Shatequa Hamilton

Director and Founder

Dr. Shatequa Hamilton, a trailblazer in aviation and STEM education, is the driving force behind our innovative program

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from North Carolina Central, her path took a soaring turn towards aviation. That led her to Delaware State University, where she pursued Aviation Management and professional piloting, igniting a lifelong passion.

Shatequa’s dedication to youth development shone brightly at the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals Solo Flight Academy, where she excelled as a ground instructor and administrator. She further honed her skills at New Hope Flight Academy in Florida, achieving her Private Pilot license.

Beyond the skies, Shatequa actively contributes to her community. She’s an esteemed Ambassador for the Henry County Chamber of Commerce and serves as Chair of the Expo Committee on the Women’s Leadership Council and as an Advisory Board Member of Communities in Schools of Georgia in Henry County. Her efforts in Aviation Discoveries Inc. have been recognized with scholarships and grants from prestigious organizations like Microsoft, Fifth Third Bank, and Coca-Cola. In 2022, ADI was honored as Best New StartUp of the Year.

Shatequa’s academic excellence continues as she participates in the Cornell University Women’s Entrepreneurship Program and recently received an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Humanities from The School of the Great Commission Theological Seminary. She is also the newly appointed Chair of the Henry County Aviation Authority and is on track to complete Leadership Henry in 2024.

When not charting new heights in aviation and education, Shatequa enjoys traveling and cherishing moments with her pilot husband and two daughters, reflecting her deep commitment to family and exploration.

Janelle (Jackson) Terry

Board Member

Janelle (Jackson) Terry, born in Newark, NJ, raised in the Bronx,
now resides in Durham, NC. Janelle has called Bull City home since
she enrolled at NC Central University where she earned the title
“Double Eagle” by receiving her Bachelor of Art degree of Political
Science, followed by a Master of Public Administration. She has
twenty plus years of experience within the public and private sector
as an analyst, consultant and strategist spanning the arenas of
healthcare, education, software development, government
contracting and finance.

When not working, Janelle enjoys spending her free time in the
kitchen and garden entertaining family and friends. Volunteering has always been one of her top priorities.

Donella Williams

Board Member

Hello, my name is Donnella Williams and I currently reside in eastern North Carolina. I am a mom of one and a grandmother to a beautiful dapple dachshund; Grandma’s furbaby. I am a clinical professional with over 10 years of experience that includes Clinical Research and Pharmaceuticals. I obtained my master’s in human resource management from Strayer University and undergraduate degree in Accounting and Business Administration from North Carolina Wesleyan College. Lastly, I am Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified.

My personal mission and goals are to assist and see others be their BEST. Be the BEST YOU, there’s only one YOU! Take the leap, step out and do something different, set the goal and if missed there’s always tomorrow, this is not a sprint but a marathon. It makes my heart happy to see other succeed.

One of my favorite quotes is from one of the most influential men in American history, the Martin Luther King Jr., “Faith is taking the first step, even if you can’t see the whole staircase.” Let’s believe for the unseen, for this is the evidence of faith.

Courtney Walters

Board Member

Currently a 737 Captain for Delta Air Lines, Courtney Walters is from Mitchellville MD. Started his journey in Aviation with the Tuskegee Airman East Coast Chapter learning all that it took to become a pilot throw d their ground school he caught the Aviation bug.

After deciding he wanted to pursue a career path as a professional pilot during his senior year of high school he found himself drawn to Delaware State University (DSU) and their Aviation program. While attending DSU Courtney attained the credentials to become an instructor pilot at the University. The instructor position opened the door to obtain the experience and time required by airline operators to obtain a position as a First Officer at SkyWest Airlines.

While working at SkyWest he was able to refine his experience and build upon it later becoming a Captain with after 4 years of working there. After a year as a Captain with SkyWest Courtney obtained his dream job with Delta Air Lines where he has spent the last 8 years which the past 2 as a Captain on the Boeing 737.
